Here are the latest updates from me about code, technology, gadgets and other cool stuff.

iOS/iPadOS 14 Developer Beta 4: Available Now

Apple has released Developer Beta 4 of iOS, iPadOS 14 and watchOS 7. The public beta will likely follow either later today or tomorrow for iOS/iPadOS. It is also likely that Apple will release the first Public Beta ever of watchOS 7 soon.

As of right now, they have not released Developer Beta 4 of macOS Big Sur. Though that could come later today.

Vue 3: TypeScript, Composition API, Teleport and more at only 12kb

Vue 3 has reached it Release Candidate stage and it has a lot to offer in a tiny package!

Some of the major features of Vue 3 include: Composition API, Teleports, and Fragments. This will add a lot of flexibility with Vue Components and what is more amazing is that the file size has been reduced down to 12kb gzipped. Best of all, it's written entirely in TypeScript.

With the new version comes some breaking changes. So you'll want to make sure you have a look at their Migration Guide.

Virtual Macintosh System 8 in Electron

  • Ever wondered what it would be like to run System 8 in 2020?
  • Ever wanted to revisit Oregon Trail?
  • Want to (attempt to) browse the web using Internet Explorer 3.0.1?

If you've answered yes to any of those questions. Macintosh.js is here to fill that void in your life.

As an added bonus, there are even the trial versions of a few different Adobe products, including Photoshop.

If you're curious, you can grab yourself a copy on GitHub.

Looking for Big Sur Public Beta?

If you're looking for the public beta of macOS Big Sur you're probably not alone.

I've been running the developer betas since beta 1 and while I've yet to encounter any show-stopping bugs (ahem, Catalina), my upgrade to beta 3 was anything but easy. As noted in Known Issues, there are a couple of problems with updates not being applied properly. If you're not one to be comfortable with bash commands, you would likely be left quite frustrated.

I can only assume that this is the reason why they've delayed the public beta release. I'll be curious to see if they release it before the end of July or if they wait for developer beta 4.

Either way, stay tuned.. Big Sur is good stuff.
